On October 12, 2024, I was guiding my friends Sérgio Porto, Marcello Coimbra and Sérgio Filgueiras in the municipality of Carmo, one of my bird destinations located in the middle Paraíba Valley of Rio de Janeiro.

There is one of the sites where some notable species occur in the state of Rio de Janeiro, such as the Three-toed Jacamar (Jacamaralcyon tridactyla) and the Serra Antwren (Formicivora serrana). We also recorded the Black-necked Aracari (Pteroglossus aracari) and several Sooty-fronted Spinetail (Synallaxis frontalis), the latter having recently colonized the state.

Several lifers for my friends and we were also able to contribute with lists for the Global Big Day. The tour then ended at the Vale da Revolta headquarters in Três Picos State Park, in Teresópolis. Thanks my friends for your trust and I hope to see you again soon on a new birding trip.
