On July 24th I led another guided tour in the Tijuca National Park, but not just any guided tour. Not only because of the very friendly customers, the French couple Christophe and Lena, but also because of the day I finally registered the Red-ruffed Fruitcow (Pyroderus scutatus) in the Park, an old and inevitable dream, since the local juçara palm forests are increasingly more mature. It was just a pitty I didn't get a photo, as it was a quick observation and the animal is always very shy.
But on the other hand, it was possible to have a good view and take good photos of the Bare-throated Bellbird (Procnias nudicollis), which is quite present in the Park at this time of year, especially with its peculiar vocalization. Although it can be heard a lot, it is not always easy to observe it due to its position in the canopies of tall trees, but the one in the photo below showed itself well when it came down to feed on one of the bunches of juçara palm trees, whose fruits it and other birds like the Red-ruffed Fruitcow appreciates it so much.

I would like to thank my new French friends for their trust and a very pleasant day at the Park, and once again to Ricardo Barbosa from Pica Pau Tours for recommending me.
