Silva Jardim | Casimiro de Abreu
Silva Jardim and Casimiro de Abreu hold some of the last remains of lowland Atlantic Forest of Rio de Janeiro state. They are also home of Poço das Antas and União Biological Reserves, and the recently created Mico-Leão-Dourado Ecological Park, which protects the rare and endemic Golden Lion Tamarin. The former is a private reserve that can be visited under appointment from Thursdays to Saturdays, from 8.30am to 16pm (admission is charged).
Main targets: Striped Manakin, Rufous-throated Sapphire, White-bellied Tanager, Red-headed Manakin, Thrush-like Schiffornis, Black-capped Becard, Minute Hermit, White-crowned Manakin, Least Bittern, Ochre-bellied Flycatcher.
